de la Espina, El sermón de las siete palabras or La
Resurrección processions walk by narrow streets of Badajoz
is one of the numerous aspects that this tradition marked by History and solemnity
offers to inhabitants and visitors.
The procession called La Soledad
is emphasized by the mourning that goes with the graven image.
The procession walks across the city where the people wait in
absolute silence and a woman sings Saetas (devotional
songs) dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This is an ancient tradition that reaches
the highests levels in Badajoz. In the middle of the night, into a total silence,
these songs goes direct to the people's hearth filling it with religious feelings.
