Easter celebrations in Jerez de los Caballeros

Inhabitants of Jerez de los Caballeros embellish their city in order to celebrate a barroque style Holy week. Imagery and feeling join together in a unique Easter which attracts people from all places to visit and enjoy this beautiful tradition in Jerez de los Caballeros.

It is difficult to highlight all the aspects of this classical Holy Week. It is unique because of its imagery and great devotion of the inhabitants and visitors travelling to Jerez de Los Caballeros to see the parades and processions.

Most of the brotherhoods were founded aorund 18th and 19th centuries, for that reason tradition is felt up in all the images (statues) and details.

The statue of Nazareno stands out. All the inhabitants of Jerez feel an special feeling about this religious statue.

Along the whole week, parades and processions walk across the medieval streets of Jerez showing the fervour around this celebration of Holy Week , for this reason it has been declared as Celebration of Interest at Extremadura.
