Great Tuesday Feast (Fiesta del Martes Mayor)
The first tuesday of August the city of Plasencia holds a typical market and becomes a meeting place where people from all the towns of the zone encounter. This feast is knonw as the Great Tuesday Feast.

Plasencia's main Square becomes the centre of the zone the first tuesday of August. It was a tradition that once the harvest was gathered shepherds, farmers, merchants and salesmen go to the main city of the zone, Plasencia, to sell or exchange their products.

In this special market we may find the best selection of fruits, vegetables and greens. Moreover, handicrafts, sweets, liqueurs and lots of are objects are sold.

The jolly day is surrounded by the merry feeling in the main square. There, people dance typical songs played by drummers. The bustling morning leads the midday while people see and buy or simply stroll through the streets.

The medieval market was so succesful that it became a custom until nowadays. It has changed some aspects such as the name or the date when is hold, however, the Martes Mayor's essence and aim is the same, that is to gather all the inhabintants of the zone.
